The Troy High School Lady Trojan junior varsity volleyball team wrapped up its season with an impressive showing at the Northeast Kansas League Tournament in Valley Falls, finishing with a 3-2 record. While the wins were exciting, it was the team's determination, teamwork, and incredible growth throughout the season that truly stood out.

The Lady Trojans opened tournament play with a hard-fought three-set victory over Maur Hill-Mount Academy (MHMA). After taking the first set 25-21, Troy struggled in the second, falling 11-25. However, the Lady Trojans refused to back down, regrouping and battling their way to a 15-12 victory in the deciding set.

Troy faced tough competition in its next two matches, falling to Jefferson County North 6-25, 10-25 and Oskaloosa 21-25, 23-25. Despite the setbacks, the Lady Trojans continued to encourage one another, stay positive, and compete for every point.

Rather than allowing the losses to define their day, the Lady Trojans came back stronger. Troy defeated McLouth in straight sets, 25-13 and 25-18, before closing out tournament play with another impressive victory over Riverside, 25-15 and 25-21.

The most impressive part of the tournament wasn't simply the three victories. It was the way the Lady Trojans played together as a team. They communicated, supported one another, fought through difficult moments, and never gave up. Their ability to bounce back from adversity demonstrated just how far this group has come since the beginning of the season.

Head Coach Kelli Rodgers couldn't be prouder of the team's progress.

"The improvement from the beginning of the season to now has been absolutely incredible," said Coach Rodgers. "These girls have worked so hard, and to watch them come together, trust each other, and play as a team has been one of the most rewarding parts of coaching. They never quit, even when things weren't going their way. They kept fighting, kept encouraging each other, and found ways to be successful. I am beyond proud of every single one of them, and I truly believe big things are coming for Trojan Volleyball."

One player who deserves special recognition is senior Tillie Keller, whose leadership, positive attitude, and dedication have made a lasting impact on the Lady Trojan volleyball program.

Throughout the season, Keller demonstrated what it means to be a leader. Whether encouraging teammates after a difficult play, working hard during practices, or maintaining a positive attitude when facing challenges, she consistently set an example for the younger players.

Her willingness to work hard and support those around her helped create a team atmosphere built on encouragement, trust, and determination.

"Tillie has been such an important part of this team," Coach Rodgers shared. "She comes in with a positive attitude, works hard, and leads by example. She has been someone the younger girls can look up to, and I couldn't ask for a better example of what it means to be a Lady Trojan. Her leadership and dedication have meant so much to this program."

As the JV season comes to a close, the Lady Trojans have plenty to celebrate. Their 3-2 tournament performance was a reflection of the hard work, growth, and perseverance they demonstrated throughout the year.

What began as a group of players learning to work together developed into a team that trusted one another, battled through adversity, and refused to quit. Their improvement from the first practices of the season to their final tournament was nothing short of remarkable.

With a strong group of young players continuing to develop and a foundation built on teamwork and determination, the future of Lady Trojan volleyball looks incredibly bright.
