Gr. 4/5 Quilt Project
Troy Grade School 4th and 5th graders just completed their annual Kansas quilt project. This is a long-standing tradition that has been taking place since the early 80’s where students embroider a quilt square with a Kansas theme, and then the squares are made into class quilts that are raffled off as a fundraiser for the classes. 4th grade’s quilt is Americana theme, and 5th grade chose a sunflower theme for their quilt. Students worked hard at their designs and did a fantastic job! Students also did a great job selling tickets for the drawings! Top ticket sellers are pictured from left to right- 4th grade: John McKittrick, 5th grade Mrs. Geiger’s class: Jacelyn Blanton, and 5th grade Ms. Ross’s class: Ellie Hartman. The 4th and 5th grade students will be taking a fun field trip later this month to celebrate all their hard work! We would also like to thank the following people for their help with this project: Annie Jensen at Dreamy Designs in Wathena for adding student names to each square, Shirley Buessing for piecing the squares together and adding the binding, and David Hurd at Quilting by David in St. Joe, MO for doing the quilting.
