Troy High School Softball Team 2-1A Regional Champs

The Lady Trojans won 1-0 over McLouth to win the 2-1A Regional at Riverside on Tues., May 18th.  Paityn Engemann didn't allow a single run against McLouth, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Troy.  The pitching was strong for both teams.  Engemann struck out 14 batters.  Emerson Weber went 2 for 3 at the plate leading the Trojans.  Emerson hit a walk off hit to right field to score senior Paige Hinds to get the win.  

In the semi-final game, Troy snatched the lead late in the game with a 12-2 victory over Riverside.  The game was tied at one with Troy batting in the bottom of the fourth when Emma McConnaughey singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.  Troy scored six runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Paige Hinds and Claire Winder, a fielder's choice by Emerson Weber, an error on a ball put in play by Jacey Moore, and a double by McConnaughey.  Paityn Engemann was credited with the victory for Troy. The righty surrendered one run on tow hits over six innings, striking out 12. Paityn Engemann smacked one home run on the day in the fourth inning.  Winder and McConnaughey each had multiple hits for the Trojans.  Winder led the team with three hits in four at bats.  

The Trojans faced Horton in round 1 of regionals  The Trojans won big 13-2 on Monday, May 17th.  The Lady Trojans tallied six runs in the 2nd inning.  The offense was led by Paige Hinds, Avery Euler, Paityn Engemann, and Jacey Moore, who all drove in runs.  Avery Euler got the win.  Euler surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. The Trojans tallied five hits on the day,  Euler and Engemann each racked up multiple hits for Troy with 2 each.  Emerson Weber led Troy with three stolen bases.

The Lady Trojans will travel to Pratt, Kansas for the 2-1A State Softball Tourney on May 26th and 27th.  Brackets have not been released as of this article.  A send off for the Lady Trojans will be Wednesday at 10 AM on Main Street. Please come out and support the Lady Trojans as they try for a State Championship.
