TMS OTL Volleyball Tourney Recap - Sat., Oct. 9
The Troy Middle School Lady Trojans travelled to Onaga on October 9th to participate in the OTL Tournament. The tournament was filled with tough competition and they entered as the #4 seed.
The first matchup of the day for the Trojans was Frankfort. The girls started off strong matching the Wildcats point for point at the start but soon lost momentum, falling to the Wildcats in 2 sets. Alyson Grable and Cadence Popple were a strong presence at the net but the Trojans were unable to overcome deficits in each match.
Their second opponent for the day was Wetmore. The Trojans showed more focus during these matches and came away with a win with serving streaks from Harper Whetstine and Nicole Judd.
The final match of the day was against the Doniphan West Mustangs. The Lady Trojans put up a good fight with keys plays from Braelyn Popple and Kenadee Christopher, but due to lack of team communication during key plays, were unable to come away with a win in either of their two sets.
Additional Trojans that made the trip were Hailey Sigrist, Adleigh Popple, and Tilley Keller. Although they did not spend a lot of time on the court, their support and enthusiastic cheering of the Lady Trojans was valuable to the team effort during the tournament.
Despite a losing record for the day, the Lady Trojans continued to show growth and improvement. They will seek redemption in their final game of the season at home against the Frankfort Wildcats on Thursday, October 14th. They would appreciate anyone that has the time to come cheer them on and show their support!
