Dear USD 429 Parents, Guardians, and Patrons:
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and wish you all a Happy New Year. What a pleasure it is writing this as we begin the second half of the school year. We have a lot to look forward to this coming year. The next couple weeks might be a little trying for us all as we see if the Covid-19 virus has a reemergence or if we can continue to have school as “normal” as possible. Even though I am optimistic, please make sure you have plans for your children if they would happen to be on a quarantine list. A couple items to note. We will not have students in session on January 8, 2021. The grade school and some of the middle and high school staff will be working on researching a new math textbook and resources. This will be an important decision for our school district and for our students. This is major investment in time let alone financial resources. Winter weather is here and we are seeing the after effects of a pretty good storm this past weekend. We know snow days are inevitable, and our main concern is the safety of your students and our staff. We always try to get information and communication out as early and as timely as possible, but many times, Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate. We will continue to try our hardest to keep you informed when we have a school closure or calendar change. A reminder to parents and fans of students participating in basketball at the middle school and high school level. The KSHSAA rules are still in effect regarding fan participation at games. We will keep you up to date, on the website, of any changes related to those guidelines. I am looking forward to getting 2021 off to a great start! I hope you are as well.
