Kansas Day was celebrated on Wednesday, January 29th at Troy Grade School. Fifth

Grade students constructed a quilt, with the help of Shirley Buessing and Michelle

Grable, in recognition of the day. Each student embroidered a square with a Kansas

symbol on it to auction. The 19 fifth grade students collectively sold 4974 tickets for a

chance to win the quilt. The three top sellers for quilt ticket sales went to Mackenna

Thomas in third place, Carter Pierce in second place, and Tillie Keller in first place. After

an assembly of songs, trivia contests, and readings, the winning ticket of the quilt was

drawn. The 2020 Kansas quilt was won by Andrea Reno. Her daughter, Sophia Reno,

sold the winning ticket.
