USD 429 Troy Adds Two Calendar Days to School Calendar; Last Day May 21

At the USD 429 Troy Board of Education Meeting on Monday, March 11th, the Troy School Board and Administrators voted to add two calendar days to the end of the year.  The last day of school will be Tuesday, May 21st.  The 8th grader's last day will move to Tuesday, May 14th.  Grade 8 promotion will remain on Tues., May 14 at 7 p.m.  Mr. Estes, MS/HS Principal, will be sending a letter home to 8th grade parents this week.  The letter is posted below.  Thank you for your patience and understanding during these inclement weather days.

Dear Parent of an 8th grade student,

As you know, we have missed several days of school because of viruses and inclement weather.  State statute requires a minimum amount of contact time for students.

After working with the District Office and counting every minute we could, it has been determined that two additional days are required to meet the State Statute.  Eighth grade students are now required to attend school on May 13th and May 14th.  Eighth grade promotion has not changed and will be on May 14th.

Together we can make sure the last few months of the 2018-2019 school year are positive and productive.

Mr. Michael Estes

MS/HS Principal
