USD 429 Troy Says Good-Bye to Two Teachers

USD 429 TO SAY GOODBYE TO TWO EMPLOYEES

When the final bell rings on May 18 and the students head out for the summer, two USD 429 employees will close their journey here at Troy that represents 50 years of service. At 4:00 p.m. May 17th USD 429 will recognize Mrs. Janice Bunck and Mrs. Kristee Grable at a reception at the Troy High School cafeteria. The public is invited to the recognition with comments beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Mrs. Janice Bunck has been with USD 429 for 18 years now. She graduated from Highland Community College in 1992. She was hired at Troy to teach science at Troy in 2000. In 2007 she began teaching in 7th and 8th grade English. A few years ago, she added 9th Grade English and facilitated Spanish.

In 2006, she received the Master Teacher of the Year award. She has coached Middle School Scholars Bowl most of the years she has been here and coached High School Scholars Bowl for the past several years. She said the most rewarding of all achievements is student success either in terms of grades from year-to-year or reading and hearing about their job/career successes once they leave Troy and knowing that she was a part of it.

She said “I appreciate the amazing opportunity to be a teacher in the Troy school district. I will miss my colleagues and students yet look forward to retirement time and whatever new things that brings.”

Mrs. Kristee Grable has been with USD 429 for 32 years. She attended Highland Community College & Missouri Western. She taught 5th grade for four years and 4th grade for 28 years. She has sponsored Jr. High Girls basketball, Jr. High Cheer and Dance, High School Dance, High School Student Council, founded the Grade School Student Council, and March for Parks to help raise money for the Troy Park.

During Kristee’s time at Troy, she has been through 8 superintendents, 8 different co teachers, and 8 times of combined class of 4th graders.

We asked Kristee to reflect back on her years here at Troy and she said “I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my 32 years at Troy Grade School.  I am honored to have had the chance to touch the lives of so many children.  It has been as much a pleasure to learn from them as it has been to teach them.  I would like to thank everyone for supporting me throughout my career. I am so blessed to have worked at such a great place.  Working at Troy has been an incredible experience, and I will always look back on my years here with fond memories.  How lucky I am to have had such a fulfilling career.  I wish everyone at Troy USD 429 continued growth and success in the future!”
