January was the month for Effective Communicators at Troy Grade School.   This was the character trait of the month.  We learned about careers in Arts, Technology, and Communication, and how in each field you must be able to communicate with others.  Our

game piece was the Cat.

The Student Council presented prizes at our monthly assembly to the Employees of the Month- they each received a candy bar and will have their picture displayed on our Employees of the Month Bulletin Board during February.  The Employees of the Month winners were Lexi Collins, Kolten Keller, Ella Grable, Riley Grable, Frankie Masters, Brayson Elrod, Nicole Judd, Alyson Grable, Donnie Smith, Brylee Rush, and Karlie Grable.

Next, they presented the Community Chest Winners with a coupon that the students then used to get a prize from our Community Chest.  The winners were Brock Ferris, Torrie Peden, Stella Engemann, Annakris Zeit, Gabriella Simpson, Brooklyn Drake, Madison Shanks, Hailey Sigrist, Ashawnti, Robinson, Tyler Jenkins, and Alan Jeffrey.

Some students’ names were called to “Take a Chance”.  They picked a chance card.  Those chosen to Take a Chance were Hunter Engemann, Lincoln Salisbury, and John Copeland.  The Free Parking Winners were announced as well.  They each won $20 of Trojanopoly money.   The winners were Adriana Clary, Landon Mosier, and Allie Horner.  Finally, the Best- Behaved Class in the Lunchroom was fifth grade.  The fifth graders each earned a special treat.  Congratulations to all of our winners!

Also, in January it was time for our 2nd nine weeks activity.  Each student had the chance to pay $50 for their entry to participate in the Trojanopoly Winter Olympics and receive a special red, white, and blue popsicle.  Some of the events were curling (using a ping pong ball), skiing (on a scooter with 2 plungers), Olympic rings (with Hula Hoops), Ice skating (on waxed paper or a carpet square), and the Torch Relays.  Everyone had lots of fun at the Winter Olympics.  This was purchased with their Trojanopoly money they have earned at school.

Another way the students spent their money this month was to go to the Trojanopoly Store.  The students each had the opportunity to purchase items of their choice from the store. They were very excited to get to spend some of their money they have been saving.  February 2 is PAY DAY so they will earn a little of it back.
