TROJANOPOLY is our theme at Troy Grade School this year.  We are working on a character trait for each month and career opportunities.  Our character trait for September was Goal Setting, and our career field was Government and Public Administration.  The students could earn a hat for their game piece last month.  Each student received $50.00 in Trojanopoly Money.  This will happen each month on the first Friday, which is Pay Day.  They also received a Pay Day treat.  They each have a money bag to keep their money in.  They will have opportunities to earn money if they are ”Caught Being Good”.  There are other ways to earn money, such as getting a 100% on a test or reaching their Reading goal for the month.  They can also lose money for such things as not completing their homework on time or losing a paper.  We hope this encourages students to practice good behavior and learn to be responsible students.  On the last Wednesday of the month we will celebrate Career Character Day.  The students may dress up as what they would like to be when they grow up.  They can choose a different career each month, or they can wear the same one.

The Student Council held the first assembly for Character Day on September 27.  Each teacher chose an “Employee of the Month” from their class.  We drew a student from each class to pick a prize from the “Community Chest”.  Three students got a chance to draw a “Chance” card, and three students earned $20.00 for landing on the “Free Parking” space.  All names were randomly drawn from a jar for students that have been displaying positive behavior and reaching their goals for the month.   We would like to give a special thanks to some of the area businesses for sponsoring or donating to our Student Council to help with our Career and Character Education this year.  They are as follows:  Rainbow Communications, Flower Peddler, Euler Law Offices, Engemann Drainage, Back to Health, Pony Express, Kelly Fuemmeler Law Office, M-CON, Grant’s Repair, and Wilbur Ellis.  Many of these businesses and several others have volunteered to help with our career fair in the spring.  Thanks again for all of your support.  In October, we will concentrate on Positive Attitudes, Health and Human Services, and our game piece is the thimble.  TROJANOPOLY- Collect Knowledge As You Pass Go!
