At the Board of Education Meeting on Monday, January 8th a calendar change was approved. Monday, February 19th will be a student contact day. Troy USD 429 will not be in session on Wednesday, February 21st. This change is due to USD 429 Troy High School hosting TVL Music on Wed., Feb. 21st.
TMS students were visited by Tyler Warner, a wildlife biologist with the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism on Tuesday, January 9th. Warner was invited by eighth grader Griffin Weber to be interviewed about his job. 8th grade students have been researching career options and have had guests in a multitude of areas. After Warner spoke about his career he was joined by Alaine Hudlin, the Prairie Center Educator/Property Manager with the KDWPT. Hudlin spoke to students about wildlife habitats and how they could start or maintain their own.
The Troy Grade School Student Council presented prizes at our monthly assembly to the Employees of the Month- they each received a candy bar and will have their picture displayed on our Employees of the Month Bulletin Board during January. The Employees of the Month winners were Colton Robinson, Bristol Jenkins, Keegan Ruhnke, Kenadie Uplinger, Jace Johnson, John Copeland, Xavier Chipps-Etherton, Caden Rosenberger, Jaylin Calkins, Jason Collins, and Emma Smith.
Next, they presented the Community Chest Winners with a coupon that the students then used to get a prize from our Community Chest. The winners were Timber Moenkhoff, Braylon Kuehn, Braydon Johnson, Abby King, Lane Hartman, Anthony Russell, Nicole Judd, Lacey Smith, Myia Reno, Aubrey Ferris, Elliot Burkeybile.
Some students’ names were called to “Take a Chance”. They picked a chance card. Those chosen to Take a Chance were Addison Grable, Presley Ramsil, and Chloe Keys. The Free Parking Winners were announced as well. They each won $20 of Trojanopoly money. The winners were Zoey Doss, Riley Grable, and Gracy McConnaughey. Finally, the Best- Behaved Class in the Lunchroom was third grade. The third graders each earned a special treat. Congratulations to all of our winners! Our Character trait for January will be Honesty. Our game piece is the shoe, and Law and Public Safety will be our Career focus.
